Betting Horse Racing

Betting horse racing is one of the most popular spectator sports next to Baseball.

Betting horse racing has been the foundation of horse racing since prehistory, and continues to be the primary reason the sport continues today. There's a lot to take into account when picking a particular horse to win. Picking a horse is called "handicapping" which refers to how well the horse will do based on it's past abilities, the condition and distance of the current track, and the abilities of the other horses in it's particular heat. It's not an easy job, which is what makes the sport of betting horse racing exciting. You can either bet on a particular horse to finish first, (which means what it says) you expect the horse to finish first.

If you're betting to "place," that means you expect your horse to finish first or second. If you're betting to "show," that means you expect your horse to finish first, second, or third. Other betting horse racing terms you should familiarize yourself with are, "daily doubles" - the winners of two consecutive races, "exactas" - picking the first and second place winners in order, and "quinellas" - picking the first and second place winners in either order, and finally, the "pick six," which is picking the winners of six consecutive races. Obviously all of these wagers have varying levels of risks involved. You should really know your odds before slapping down a fat wad of cash on betting horse racing. It always behooves you to know what exactly you're betting on. If it's your first time at the track, you should stand back and simply watch a few races before placing any bets. Good luck.
